Rainy Day Blorg

Working from home.... on a Monday... when it's Raining.... could very well be my new favorite thing.

Also, accompany this with listening to older Canadian music feeling "early-to-mid-90s Nostalgic" helps.

A work colleague was at my desk last week and spotted the Grapes Of Wrath CD on my desk and nearly lost it.

If only she had stuck around to peek at the others.

I am Canadiana-lady lately.

This past weekend was the lovely KAT's Bachelorette.  Good group of chicks plus wine plus dancing = all around good night.

Oh and I almost forgot the falafel.

I've said it before (and I'll say it again... OBVI) but CLINTONS "Shake a Tail Feather" is fun.  Really really good music.  Especially for people like me who basically can't deal with regular CLUB music (yup, eeeeeven the "good" stuff).

Now If only I could find a spot hat would fill in my Early 90s-Canadiana hunger.
(Contrary to popular belief, the Skydiggers are very danceable)

Maple Syrup.... and ... Guns

We headed northbound this past weekend to see Mom and Pete.  It was the weekend of the Purple Valley maple Syrup Festival.

We started off in a 45 minutte lineup for some grub and once we realised that we were, in fact, in the WRONG line up we made our way to the front and pigged out on Pancakes & Syrup (Lil Kel), Sausages (Mom, Pete, Rob) and french fries (Me)

Sweet Baby C-dawg could not come due to work, so I picked him up this below image on a tee-shirt for a whopping $5!

It was such a hit we ended up picking it up for Pete and Rob as well as my uncle Norm.... who was manning the target shoot.

Yes, that's right I said target shoot.   Nothing says Wholesome Family Day like a buttload of guns going off ever 10 seconds!

As per the ususal "North of the Checkboard" way- the prize?  MEAT.
Pete came home with a large turkey- his big win of the afternoon.

ALso enjoyed this extra long weekend- Thursday night's Bev Hills 90210 Season three session with Lil Kel, and upon my return to KW on Sunday some deliecious meatless balls, and then fun times with Niki... and ROSIE.... and Ruby.

War Horse NOT Snore Horse

What a better way to celebrate St. Patty's day then going to see WAR HORSE (the play).

Corey and I headed down towards Princess of Wales Theater Saturday evening to begin our night with some snicky-snacks at BIG DADDYS on King.  Clam chowder, Calamari, Mussels.  Oh how I love those bugs of the sea!

On the way down, the subway operator felt it necessary to remind this fine city's commuters NOT to relieve themselves on the subway platforms....  EVEN at stations where no public washrooms exist.

Seems reasonable enough you would think??

Ok back to the horse-

The puppetry was incredible. In a few words I would say this show was ...
Original. Exciting. Emotional.
I teared up but did not full out cry.  Which is very impressive for a Gilbert Girl.

We both loved it.  Thanks to my wonderful Sis-In-Law (well not in LAW so much) for getting us these tickets :)

It also made me realize that I need to get out more.

Not to say that KILGOURS lacks incredible amounts of... culture.

A Plea for relief

Dear You,

Well,  Sciatica strikes again and this time it's sticking around a little longer than usual.  I hate to say but this time I think it came about from me carrying groceries etc. home on Saturday.  The embarrassing part- the etc. in question here is a BOX of wine.

Oh my.

I just long for the days of being able to stand / sit up straight and walk around with ease.  Nevermind the fact that I am missing my pilates / yoga sessions like mad.

Currently I am walking around the apartment slouched over like Sofia Petrillo and my best pal is our heating pad.

Even the cat is bored with me, option not to hang out with me on the rare occasion that I am home all day, but instead burying himself under the quilt on our bed.  In a completely separate room.

Maybe a movie is in the cards today.  I usually take these times to watch a movie that Corey wouldn't necessary be into- thus allowing myself to indulge in sappy dramas and rom-com disasters.

Please say there's better out there on Roger On Demand today.  Yesterday's Woody Allen flick (Midnight in Paris) was an absolute flop.

I'm beginning to get a little bored of myself.  Which is quite ridiculous as we all know how fascinating I really am.

HELP.

Love, Me.
And that, my lovelies, is something that really GRINDS MY GEARS

Bachelor p2

This is a sad life I lead if my last 2 blog entries have been about Ben Flajnik's quest for love.

I have a life- I really do.  For example I hit up a sweet pool party for my sister C's Bday on Saturday outside of KW.  (Indoor) POOL PARTY TIME.   Unlike these shindigs in previous years there was no clothes swapping.  Just some kids running around, a few bevies and some bathing suit action.

The aforementioned kids:  I love them.  I love being an "auntie".  I really thought I despised the lil' creatures, but I have to say childrens are not so bad.  Maybe it's just because the ones in my life are so. bloody. amazing.
Hilarious, really.
And cute to boot.

There has been a new addition as well.  Fio and Ro have a son of their own now.  He's amazing, this little guy.  I am NOT and have never been much of a "newborn baby holder".  seriously- when mothers assume you want to hold the baby- I'd usually run the other way.  But not baby Chetan.  I could snuggle him in my arms forever.

I am looking so forward watching him grow as I have the other kiddies in my life.
Alrightyyyy enough baby talk.  wtf? my clock better not have magically fixed itself and turned back on!

Back to the B-lor-
Some people have way too much time on their hands.  Like whomever made this!

Bachelor Night Mondays!

Poor C dawg.  We live in a one television home.  It must be evenings such as Mondays that make him regret getting rid of our "bed teevee".
In my defense- I did allow the NHL game to be shown.... on commercials.

Ok back to the women who grind my gears this week-

Aside from the obvious reason to have a hate-on for Courtney- what is the deal with this one always appearing to be eating the inside of her own lip????

What is Jesus name is in there, Courtney?  You always appears to be gnawing on something behind those lil' lips of yours!  Ok, Ok, is it chewing tobacco?  Do you harbor a smoking addiction that PrimeTime teevee won't allow you to fulfill whilst on the air?

Is it skittles????????????????

And this one was probably wins most desperate of the week with her straddle / kissing episode.
For those who have a life on Monday evenings and missed it- Jamie's idea of how to best remind Ben that she existed? Seemingly force-straddle herself onto his lap, and proceed to kiss him- along with full instructions.
All the while she spewed off a number of horrifying, clichéd lines such as  “When I go to sleep, I think about the things I would like to do with you”

Wow.

Why do I watch this horseshit?

....Oh and who ended up winning the Leafs game anyways??

GAYmes night / Countdown to 2012

Well the countdown to 2012 is ON.

We got some good holiday cheer on Thursday night at Joel and Christopher's place.  Sorry, I mean at MARSHALLs place. (I cant believe I failed to take a snapshot of him so here is a stolen one from f-book)

There was SO MUCH FOOD.  SO MUCH delicious food.  Homemade sushi, smoke salmon, artichoke dip, pumpernickel awesomeness, and of course my homemade tartlettes.
We got out the good ol POP 5 game and split into two teams (MAGICALLY selected by Jeff's space phone- there is a website for everything, you know)

Pop 5

Here are some examples (THIEVED from JENNA) of the array of artists in the house:
CELEBRITY:  "Carrot Top"
MEDIUM: Play Doh

CELEBRITIES:  "The Blue Man Group"
MEDIUM: (Purple) Sharpie and paper

The B-MAN pic was mine.  Sadly I do not have the same (or even remnants of) what Corey has for artistic abilities.  The sad face in the front is supposed to symbolize ME watching the B-man Group perform.  I HATE the BMG, and thought that was a slick hint.

Party Playas

The beautiful (somewhat newly) MRS. I

Then last night it was ANOTHER fun night with Fio and Ro.
We ordered BIG SLICE from St Clair (addictive) and hung out by the fire log.

Sadly we wont be spending NYE with those two (almost 3!).  So we figured a pre-NYE night was imperative :)

And now.... the countdown begins.  Looking forward to some FREIXNET and Mexican Food with my love, and of course that midnight kiss.  I'm thinking about slipping him the tongue tonight.

I hit the liquor store early to avoid the lines.  Smartest thing I've done all day.

Quick! Liquor Store closed soon!

The cat sees the fridge and sings the NO song:

2011 xmas

Well it wasn't so much a WHITE Xmas but it was great one all the same. We got away for 5 nights this year.

The night before we left was my LAST DAY of work until the New Year and I was doing this:

Work Xmas get-together.....
Needless to say I was a wee tired but in decent form, nonetheless.

C and I got up to his parents on Thursday Dec 22nd and stayed until Xmas morning.
We then made the trek an hour north to my moms and stayed 2 more nights. We had an amazing young lady cat sitting our hairy son so we needn't worry about him.

I got my very own stocking at the McG house this year- with my name sewn into it and everything!

Corey made Lil Kel and Rob their very own "personalized" treats! Awww and EW!

Those slippers emulated RALPHIE

Awww sweet buds

Mom and Kel say winking wearing glasses = major fail

"THE TREE"- usually crooked and sometimes known to my mother as a giant asshole (like the year it fell down with all moms glass decorations on it).  Its always a little different- but somehow a reincarnation of the last tree, year after year.

Cheers!  This was our 6th Xmas as a couple. I guess because we got together just before the holidays back in 2006.
I still love the crazy bastard as much as I ever have.
