Sleep Disorder #2

Anyone else have this problem?

When you are trying to catch some Z's and you have NO IDEA what to do with your arms.
Mine are always flopping about. For some reason i can't just comfortably lie there with my appendages to either side of my body- which one may think is the most obvious solution...

It just feels weird. So there I am at night, arms stretched over my head (pins and needles) under my pillow/ head (pins and needles), or around C (pins and needles).

Anyone? Anyone?

Heading to GRAFITTI's at 5pm today to see Kyle tickle the ivories. He is returninh from his BRAZIL trip at 2pm today (lucky bastard) so I'm sure he'll be beat, but excited to see us all.

Hip Hip

My throat is pretty darn sore today and I am trying to figure out if this is due to the beginnings of a sickness of some sort (strep- NOOOO) or due to the excessive amount of smoking I have been partaking in as of late.
I don't know- it's a beer thing. When I drink- I smoke. I (proudly) DO NOT smoke at work or during my weekend days (unless, of course, I am drinking on a patio). I am quite proud of this fact. I don't crave cigarettes, no matter how high stress my days are. Like I said, it's a beer thing. And this weeks amazing weather has gotten the patio gods out-forcing me everyday to join them.

*cough cough*

I have a new sleeping issue. It's too damn hot in our apt. I could sleep completely buck beside our open window and NOTHING. No breeze WHATSOEVER ....which leaves me naked, awake, and in a pool of my own sweat. (And C sleeping comfortably next to me with the comforter on).
C jimmied tour big old square fan, strapping it into the window to force a breeze in- which did help a little :) But I can already sense this is going to be a long, hot, sleepless summer.

I'm sure that there is a such thing as an A/C that you can move from one window to another EASILY?
If so, what will that set me back?
I don't want some old, power hungry machine. Just something to take the edge off a little.
Any ideas?

I'm a brunette!

Had a good long weekend. I am newly brunett-ed out and not feeling much like mourning the blond, as I thought I would!

We spent the weekend at Bolt's place. Our weekend in Waterloo began with my bro-in-law picking C and I up at the bus Terminal. He had his pool van (he's a pool boy by trade- owns his own company). The van has seating for driver plus one- so I sat in a recycling bin in the back amongst all the "gear".

One we arrived and my arse got it's feeling back I did the following:

  • Hung with good peeps.
  • Talked to NIKI on Skype :)
  • Ate delicious food.
  • Met Bolt's Guinea Pigs.
  • Played Wii (failed miserably at Dance Dance Revolution).
  • Sat outside (braved the chill).
  • Drank Coronas.
  • Watched Bolt and Corey do some gardening / lawn work.
That's a quick rehashing of the weekend. There's some pics coming too.

Bye Bye Blond

Bye bye, blond.
Bye bye, yellow-ness.
Hello, darker-ness.
I think I'm a-gonna cry-y.

Bye bye, blond.
Bye bye, light hot mess.
Hello, darker mess.
I feel like I could di-ie.
Bye bye, my blond, goodby-ye.

insomnia

Oh man, I have NOT been sleeping very well lately.
It's ALWAYS something with me. (If I were C I would have either bailed or gave me a good bitch slap by now) but seriously.
I have been recovering a bit from my lil sun tan / burn a coupla weeks ago so now is the time my skin is peeling just a little.
When I try and catch some zzzzs it become a HOLY-FUCK-MY-SKIN-IS-CRAWLING episode where I can NOT lay still for the life of me, and surely can't get any shut-eye!
After sending a sleepy C dawg out to the living room sofa (surely due to my constant MOVING AROUND etc) I proceeded to get up out of bed, switch on all the lights and search my bed for bedbugs. I had my retina like a milimeter away from our white sheets just SEARCHING for any timy black speck that could pass for one of the creepy crawlers!

*On a side note- the next day I googled "bedbugs" and now realized that I surely do not have these suckers in my abode. They are apparently MUCH larger than whatever it was I was looking for!*

Anywho, The above scenario was two nights ago. I swear to G I slept a total of 1 hour and 45 minutes. Let me tell you- NOT ENOUGH for the Zerbinator. Not even close.
So yesterday at work I was a bit of a zombie.

The bonus was immediately AFTER work, C and I headed to his sister Tracy's place to have dinner with his ENTIRE FAMILY. That's right- Mom, Dad -- the whole kit and caboodle.

When we arrived, we are always greeted with an arrangement of delicious snack foods in their gi-normious kitchen. Last night it was smoked salmon, shrimp, brie etc.
The only thing missing was wine. We ALWAYS drink wine. Good wine, too. Nothing like the "Honest Ed's special" that C and I have become oh-so-accustomed to.

Anywho upon waiting for the arrival of the wine- and Corey's sister's hubby- C man took the stage as barkeep. he raided the fridge and liquor cabinet and made Tracy and I a delicious concoction of Lychee's liquor, Pomegranate juice and tonic. YUM.

As the night went on, I got a little second wind (thank god) but then was oh-so-glad to get home, into my pjs IMMEDIATELY and into the sack.

Oh if that could be it.
Enter- my back pain.....

I lay on my side, praying that the "leg pillow" will do it's job but soon realize that i need MORE. So I head to the kitchen to fill up my hot waddy botty (H2O bottle) and sure enough - I manage to spill the piping hot liquid all over my hand!!!!

What was the point of this whole story, again????????
oH yeah!
Best way to tire yourself out in order to fall asleep- 4 words- CRY YOURSELF TO SLEEP.

Delia Derbyshire / Street Art

Sunday was the final day of HOT DOCs- the Canadian International Documentary Film Festival, here in Toronto.

C and I were lucky enough to have the "ins" with one of the directors- her sister being a a good friend of Corey. So we gots some free tickets to check out 2 films. The first- directed by Kara Blake was the DELIAN MODE an interesting look at Delia Derbyshire.

A pioneer, really, of electronic music. She is most known for the creation of that creepy theme song from the Doctor Who teevee series.
A woman waaaay before her time. With great fashion sense.

The second film was about a guy in Montreal they called ROADSWORTH
who lit up the streets with his unique street graffiti- turning regular crosswalks into works of art with the simple addition of some stencils and a can of spray paint.

Both definitely worth seeing, if presented the chance to :)

The Power's Out

Friday night- Cadillac Lounge after work and then headed top the Gladstone for some Karaoke.
While my pal. Manuela was up rockin' out- the freaking POWER WENT OUT. UGH. How badly did I want to sing that night? A-fucking-LOT!

After about 7 minutes, the seemingly chillaxed (at first) bar staff
SWITCHED GEARS and started almost shoving all the patrons out onto the curb.

At which time C dawg starts a chant. yes kids, a CHANT.

"We like to MOVE IT MOVE IT! We like to MOVE IT MOVE IT!"

Awesomeness.

Not so awesomeness was deciding to head home. We figured all bars in the area would have the same issue.

We get home- a million blocks away and OUR freaking POWER IS OUT. So we ordered 'za and ate a midst the glow of our solar powered flashlight (Thanks daddy z, for that one)

And THE I find out some of the crew went BACK to the Cadillac where the power was IN and the beers plentiful :(

Poooooop.

Visit With MacNeil

Well my dears it has now been over one week since she left us to travel back to Halifax-country but our visit with laura was great!
She is a little camera shy but I managed to steal a few :)

She came bearing gifts- a pewter bracelet for me (LOVE IT) and a tee-shirt for C dawg from a little Chicken Spot called the LICK A CHICK. It has this image on the back:
We got in a good night of pubStumper's Trivia, as well as a pool game or two.

Remind me AGAIN not to wear that bra with thin tee-shirts.

Scrabble at Kilgours. A pastime we enjoy. A guy I dated was at the table riiiiiight next to us and we did a good job of pretending he didn't exist.

We had a nice night at my old roomie's place. her sister is pictured below and Two days after this puic was taken- She got engaged.
Holy Hannah- is it EVER spring. I hear of a new engagement every 6-9 days!

Ok so THIS is what I am TALKIN' about. When C and I first met / started spending every moment altogether... Laura was there. For a lot of it. Like our little third wheel- that we both actually liked having around-
I'm sure if the three of us could legally get wed- we would.

Next up, Laura's last hour. We spent it on Kilgours patio. Of Course. But HELL It was 30 degrees out last Monday! Fiona skipped out early from work to see her off too!

Side note-
My roomies cat ECHO whom used to live with us- looks alot like another handsome devil I know!

Here's looking at you, cat.
