C'est halloween

I was either dreaming of running a marathon or eating a ton of saltines because I must have drank 4 liters of water between 3-7 this morning!

My Hallowe'en costume is giving me some anxiety. I mean, how am I supposed to choose between eating actual food to fitting into this without looking like a total heifer?????

Oh well, at least I have an excuse to smoke to ease the anxiety attacks.

Sandy's hair is browner than I remembered. This costume better not suck.

HELL, I will probably end up looking more like Dog the Bounty Hunter's wife than Sexy Sandy :(

cat lady post

I feel like C and I run our own little Inn for cats.
It's tough, man!

Jackson even got up in the middle of the night to complain about his sleeping arrangements.
Guy, it was laundry day. The hamper you sleep in was almost empty I know... Aside of course from yesterday's underpants and socks with a couple t-shirts. I understand.

Speaking of cats and laundry.... Sometimes C and I will make up our own little songs. It is fun to take an existing song and replace one of the more prominent lyrics with- you guessed it- "cat".

Some do not work so well. Try replacing house with cat in "Our House":
Our CAT is a very, very fine CAT
With two.... err CATS in the yard
Life used to be so hard...

Last night's laundry song was This cat is on a hot tin CAT.

Thanksgiving weekend / creepers

The last week has been hectic..... We had Thanksgiving in Port Elgin with Corey's family. I went golfing which was awesome because I totally feel like I'm beginning to "get" it. I am no longer the girl who swings her body around in a circle, missing the ball. I am now the girl who can get that perfect "PING" sound and actually hit close to the green! It is very exciting.

Not so exciting is realizing shortly after playing that I had injured my (sometimes still very fragile) back. The first day was brutes but the morning after Corey stretched out my legs like this

and I did some yoga stretching on my own. It worked! The pain only lasted 24 hours which is a GREAT GREAT thing. Sometimes the shooting pain down my leg can last almost a week!

Our Port Elgin time was followed by Oktoberfest Family Day in Kitchener. Niki was my date. She picked my sorry ass up in Guelph at a Timmy Hos while Corey and his sis and niece headed back to the big smoke- as C dawg had to work (ON HIS BIRTHDAY)

In case you were wondering; Family day Oktoberfest equals this-
Hopped up parents + Kids running about +
Walter Ostanek + beer

Niki and I hung out the rest of the evening. We hit Ethel's for one (two?) and played the addictive touch-screen game.

I spent Tuesday lazing on Lil' Kel's couch eating hot and sour soup from JIA JIA LOK... I still have yet to find a soup AS SPECTACULAR as this in all of Toronto.
Crazy that I have to travel to KW for the best H & S Soup, right?

Anyways we watched Twilight. It was my first time. Those special effects. Woah, dood.

On my bus home I sat next to a young man who was typing IN SPANISH on his laptop.
I could have SWORN guy was typing about me. I know I know I am totally full of myself.

Anyways I had Belle and Sebastian in my ipod and I know I can play it rather loudly. Especially on the Greyhound as I am of course, pretending to be anywhere but there.

I peeked over just before he closed his laptop.

He wrote-

Spanish-Spanish-Spanish-Spanish-BELLE + SEBASTIAN-Spanish-Spanish-SpanishSpanish

I friggin KNEW it!

Why Today is Awesome

We go to see the SOCIAL NETWORK this afternoon WITH WORK:

I came in this morning to a nice surprise email from our rockin' VP. He is taking us to the moooooovies. Not a bad way to split up the afternoon!

I go to dinner with C dawg at UTOPIA:

About 6 months ago I purchased a $50 Gift card for only $25 on Groupon.com for this place. They have delicious foods and we are finally going to use it.

I see my pal Kathryn perform STAND UP at the Central:

Anyone wanna come see some comedy and drink some beers?

SKY BLUE SKY

C dawg and I FINALLY decided to grab a sammich from a place that opened up near our place some time ago.

SKY BLUE SKY SANDWICHES is a Wilco-themed sandwich shop just west of Bathurst, on Bloor street.

We were originally going to grab takeout to bring home but then decided to take a jaunt down there and eat in.
I was impressed when we walked into the smell of yummy soups and saw the fresh bread laid out on the counter.

I am uber-glad we did decide to go in to eat because we also got to taste their SOUPS.

C Dawg had-

The "Casino Queen" sandwich:

Slices of smoked turkey topped with a balsamic onion marmalade, bacon, and avocado on brown bread and toasted

And he had a Potato Mushroom soup

I had:
The "Side With The Seeds" sandwich:
Roasted tomatoes, caramelized onions and mushrooms served with a slice of cheddar cheese on our very own three cheese bread, toasted

And I had the tomato, rice and basil soup

This was the part of the day when the sun had yet to poke through so the soup was a perfect addition.

Another PRO: Both meals altogether were like $15!

The place itself is cozy and cute. I am kicking myself for not checking it our earlier!

So if you love Wilco and sandwiches OR just sandwiches in general- totally check it out.
